Jim Lassiter se desplaza de ciudad en ciudad en busca del hombre que llevó a su hermana al suicidio. Mientras viaja hacia un puerto de montaña, ve una heredera, Jane Withersteen, que está siendo acosada por unos matones y se para a ayudar. Una secta religiosa quiere casar a Jane con su líder, el Diácono Tull, para que puedan obtener la propiedad de su tierra. Cuando interviene para ayudar, Lassister poco a poco empieza a creer que un miembro de esta secta es el hombre que está buscando. (FILMAFFINITY)
