Krell Darius (Billy Zane) es uno de los magos estrella en las Vegas, está siendo investigado por la muerte de uno de sus asistentes. Todo apunta a un homicidio, pero durante las investigaciones, la policía especializada en crímenes, encontrará muchos más cabos sueltos de lo que en principio se esperaba. Será el mago el asesino homicida responsable de la muerte de sus ayudantes tras que le fallara un truco en escena.
