Una serie de asesinatos lleva al Comandante Trujillo hasta Santa Rosa de la Sal, una ciudad al lado de una mina de sal. Allí conoce a Víctor Zepeda -un adolescente solitario que trabaja en la funeraria de su padre y que emplea su tiempo libre creando descarnadas y terroríficas películas de animación-, cuyo extraño comportamiento provoca que se le señale como culpable de los crímenes.
