En el verano de 1983, pocos días antes del nacimiento de su primer hijo, el escritor y teólogo John Hull quedó ciego. Con el fin de tratar de encontrar un sentido a la agitación de su vida, comenzó a grabar, en cintas de audio, sus pensamientos y percepciones a modo de un diario.
