El físico hungaro Leo Szilard deja Europa y llega a Estados Unidos. Con la ayuda de Albert Einstein convence al gobierno americano para construir la bomba atómica. El General Leslie Groves elige a Robert Oppenheimer para dirigir el laboratorio de Los Alamos en Nuevo Mexico, donde se construye la bomba.Según la II Guerra Mundial se acerca a su final, se debate sobre el uso de la bomba y cuando y donde utilizarla.
