El duro forajido 'Sierra' Bill se enamora de la violinista viajera Nelly Gray. Sierra la obliga a casarse con él. Tienen un hijo, pero la vida familiar se ve interrumpida por el jugador Ringe, quien no solo persuade a Nelly para que deje a su marido, sino que arruina a Sierra en la mesa de juego. Con pensamientos de venganza, Sierra enojada escapa de la cárcel y va tras Ringe.
