Cinco años fue el tiempo invertido por Cory Balrog para reinventar el sentido de una de las franquicias más importantes de la historia de los videojuegos: God of War. Corriendo un enorme riesgo, el equipo de programación de Santa Monica Studio decidió dar una vuelta de 180º a la historia de Kratos, dejando atrás el estilo beat 'em up para convertir la odisea de su protagonista en una aventura dotada de sentimiento y sensibilidad. Más que un "making of", esta aventura cinematográfica se centra en cómo Balrog trató de alcanzar la perfección artística y narrativa, sufriendo un sinfín de derrotas y de problemas que en varias ocasiones estuvieron a punto de llevarle a arrojar la toalla.
