Tucumán, Argentina, 1965. Tres años antes de que se estrenara «La noche de los muertos vivientes», de George A. Romero, el director Ofelio Linares Montt rodó «Zombis en el cañaveral», que resultó ser tanto una película de terror como una declaración política. Fue un éxito en EE. UU., pero no pudo exhibirse en Argentina debido a la dictadura de Juan Carlos Onganía, y finalmente se perdió. El escritor e investigador Luciano Saracino se embarca en la búsqueda de los orígenes de esta obra maldita.
