El 20 de junio de 2009, Neda Agha-Soltan fue asesinada a tiros en las calles de Teherán durante la agitación que siguió a la contienda presidencial iraní. En cuestión de horas, imágenes de sus últimos momentos, capturadas con teléfonos móviles, aparecieron en pantallas de ordenadores de todo el mundo, centrando la atención mundial en las protestas masivas contra las elecciones amañadas en Irán. Con imágenes nunca antes vistas de Neda con amigos y familiares, así como un video exclusivo de ella grabado el día de su muerte, 'For Neda' debuta justo antes del aniversario de su muerte.
